One of the last really big steps in the project - the roof!

One thing I have learned during is project is to know when you are going to be beyond your skills - the roof was one of those things that I probably could have done myself but its just too much for me to do safely.
The guys I hired to do the roof have been great - working with all the "character" issues (my goof ups) and working hard.

Looking good! Out of curiosity, how tall are your ceilings?

In some of the pictures they barely look 6ft :-)

The ceilings on the first and second floor are 8.5 ft and 14 ft on the third... :)

Hello Heger family!
My husband and I are trying to decide how to build a log cabin. I saw your vertical style barn picture. Did you let your logs season before construction for vertical style? Do you have any thoughts on log seasoning? Thanks ---Melanie

The technique I learned at the Log Home Builders class does not require the logs to be seasoned. I would highly recommend taking the class.

Our logs where cut in June and I started using them in August.
